NDRRMC: Over 2 million people affected by TS Mario
More than two million people have been affected by Tropical Storm Mario (Fung-Wong) as of Tuesday morning, the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council said.
In its update, the NDRRMC said Mario had affected 453,190 families or 2,052,141 people in 2,145 barangays in 27 provinces.
Of these, 2,020 families or 8,293 people are still inside 35 evacuation centers.
The death toll remained at 18, with 16 injured and four still missing.
At least 2,256 houses had been destroyed while 9,335 were damaged in Ilocos, Cagayan Valley, Central and Southern Luzon, Bicol and Cordillera.
Damage caused by Mario amounted to P3,399,424,192.51, including P585,357,721.02 in infrastructure and P2,814,066,471.49 in agriculture.
Meanwhile, 32 roads and two bridges remained impassable in Ilocos, Cagayan Valley, Central Luzon, Calabarzon, Bicol, Central Visayas, and Cordillera.
Some areas in Dagupan City and in Calasiao in Pangasinan remained flooded. —Joel Locsin/KG, GMA News
