PNP to personnel: Be careful in giving away business cards

Following the controversy involving a ranking police official and a pretty female model, the Philippine National Police (PNP) on Wednesday reminded its personnel to be diligent in giving away their business cards.

In a statement, PNP spokesperson Senior Supt. Wilben Mayor said business cards should only be used for effective communication, and should not be used to peddle influence nor seek special favors.

"In case of doubt, law enforcers who will be confronted in a situation involving a name-dropping traffic violator should simply do their job of enforcing the law," he added.

The PNP issued the reminder after model Alyzza Agustin shared on Facebook a calling card purportedly of Chief Supt. Alexander Ignacio, that she allegedly used to skirt around a coding violation.

However, after the issue caused a firestorm on social media, Ignacio denied knowing Agustin, adding he will not tolerate the use of his business card for unlawful purposes.

For her part, Agustin apologized for her gaffe on her Facebook account. The apology, however, was deleted for unknown reasons.

The controversy started after Agustin, who appeared on FHM Philippines' 100 Sexiest Women issue last year, posted photos of the calling card online. She captioned the photos: “Nahuli na naman ako dahil coding but because of you Boss Alex wala ng huli huli. Thank you so much sa napaka useful mong card with matching dedication pa #happykid"

She later deleted her post, but netizens were able to share screenshots. —Amanda Fernandez/KBK, GMA News
