Purisima admits buying Palayan property ‘very cheap’ from farmers

Philippine National Police (PNP) chief Director General Alan Purisima allegedly has more pieces of property in Nueva Ecija aside from the P3.7-million mansion he owns in San Leonardo, Emil Sumangil's exclusive report on 24 Oras showed Thursday.

According to a source, one property, a 200-hectare farm, is in Barangay Aulo in Palayan City. It is 30 minutes away from the center of the city.

The land is littered with mango trees and from the road, passersby can see a house in the middle of a field. The source, reportedly one of the agents that handled its sale, said Purisima acquired the property more than a year ago.

Not far from the first spot is another property that allegedly belongs to the PNP chief. It measures 20 hectares.

According to the Assessor's Office in the city, there is no record that Purisima owns a property in Palayan.

"Hindi ko po alam 'yung property na 'yun kung kanino," an officer said.

The parcels of land were also not declared Purisima's Statement of Assets, Liabilities and Net Worth (SALN) in 2012 and 2013.

During Purisima's press conference at Camp Crame on Thursday, the PNP chief admitted that he has properties in Palayan City he acquired from farmers at a low price. However, he could not remember when he bought the properties.

"Meron po akong property sa Palayan, Nueva Ecija.... 'Yun pong property na 'yun ay na-acquire po natin sa mga magsasaka po doon na halos hindi na masaka 'yung lupa, kaya napakamura po nating nabili sa kanila," Purisima said.

Are they declared in Purisima's SALN? "I'm not sure. Itse-check ko po," he said.

If he acquired the properties this year, he is expected to declare them in his 2014 SALN. —Trisha Macas/NB/KG, GMA News
