FG’s heart not ready for Pacman’s defeat – docs
Manny âPacman" Pacquiao must win in his boxing fight against Jorge Solis or First Gentleman Jose Miguel âMike" Arroyoâs heart won't be able to take the boxing champ's defeat lightly. Doctors at the St. Lukeâs Medical Center in Quezon City, aired this worry, saying that Mr Arroyo, a known patron of Pacquiao, may not be ready to take a bad news about the Filipino boxing champ. They said this would mean another stress for the patient whose recovery rate has reached 90 percent as of Saturday after a 10-hour open heart surgery. Juliet Gopez-Cervantes, one of the attending physicians to Mr Arroyo, told media on Saturday that doctors could be at a loss on how to break the news to the First Gentleman if Pacquiao loses to Solis in Texas on Sunday âs fight. "Baka kasi tumaas blood pressure. Babalitaan na lang natin kung manalo si Pacquiao, kung natalo siya we will just keep quiet (His blood pressure may go up. We'll tell him if Pacquiao wins but if he loses, we'll just keep quiet)," she said. Cervantes said Arroyo's heart is "very, very stable" and his gastrointestinal tract is working. Three tubes have already been removed from Mr Arroyoâs body indicating that his recovery has continuously improved. When asked when the other two chest tubes will be removed, she said they will be removed when he is "completely out of the ventilator already," but did not give a time frame. She said the kidneys are still recovering and may start functioning "in the coming days." In the meantime he will still have to undergo renal replacement therapy, she said. "Overall the first gentleman's medical team, the president and first family are happy with this development," she said. When asked about the first gentleman's likelihood of recovery, she said it remained at 80 percent, though it will be "very dynamic." At the continuation of the press briefing on Saturday afternoon, Cervantes reiterated that all of Mr Arroyoâs vital organs are normally functioning. âEverything is functional. By next week, he may be back to Malacañang." - GMANews.TV
