Jinggoy’s health condition normal based on MRI results


Senator Jinggoy Estrada is fit to withstand detention and trial, the results of the tests done on him suggest.

Estrada is currently detained at the PNP Custodial Center in Camp Crame over graft and plunder charges in connection with the alleged P10-billion pork barrel scam.

He is accused of receiving P183 million in kickbacks by diverting his Priority Development Assistance Fund (PDAF) allocations to fake non-government organizations associated with businesswoman Janet Lim-Napoles, the alleged pork scam brains. 
 
In a medical report submitted to the Sandiganbayan Fifth Division on Tuesday and released to the media on Friday, the Cardinal Santos Medical Center (CSMC) found Estrada’s cervical spine and left shoulder in normal condition based on the Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) tests done on him on September 24.
 
Based on the MRI, the posterior structure, cervical cord and spinal canal of Estrada’s cervical spine were all found in normal condition.  
 
The MRI also showed no significant changes in the alignment and integrity of the bone and marrow of Estrada’s cervical spine.
 
The was also no adverse findings on Estrada’s left shoulder as the ligaments, tendons and joint alignments were all found in normal condition.
 
The muscles, vessels and nerves in his left shoulder were also found in normal condition.
 
On September 22, the court allowed Estrada to undergo MRI procedures, following his complains of shoulder and neck pain.
 
Additional procedures done on Estrada at the CSMC were whole abdomen ultrasound and blood examination.
 
According to the medical report, the whole abdomen ultrasound revealed that Estrada’s liver, billiary tree, gallbladder, pancreas, spleen, kidneys and urinary bladder are all in normal condition.
 
The report noted a mild enlargement of Estrada’s prostate gland, but said that it is still considered normal in size and echopattern.
 
Meanwhile, based on the hematology test done on Estrada, his white blood cells, red blood cells, hemoglobin, hematocrit, platelet counts, among others, were also found in normal ranges. — RSJ, GMA News
