Sueselbeck’s deportation a ‘win-win’ for German, military—AFP spokesperson

The Armed Forces of the Philippines on Friday said the order of the Bureau of Immigrations to deport Marc Sueselbeck, fiancé of slain transgender woman Jeffrey "Jennifer" Laude, is a "win-win" situation for both parties.

At a press briefing on Friday, AFP public affairs office chief Lt. Col. Harold Cabunoc said the BI had heeded the military's request to have Sueselback deported and banned from entering the country.

The AFP filed the move against the German after an incident wherein he scaled a fence in Camp Aguinaldo and shoved a Filipino soldier in an attempt to confront US Marine Private First Class Joseph Scott Pemberton.

Pemberton, who's currently detained in a restricted facility inside Camp Aguinaldo, is facing a murder complaint in connection with the October 11 killing of Laude inside a motel in Olongapo City.

"It's a win-win situation [dahil] gusto naming madisiplina si Seuselbeck dahil sa kanyang ginawa. Napakatindi ng kanyang ginawa," he said.

On the other hand, Cabunoc said Sueselbeck was finally allowed to leave the country after he was prevented by the BI on Sunday from doing so pending his deportation case.

"Nanawagan siya (Sueselbeck), nag-apologize siya, at nakiusap dahil mawawalan raw siya ng trabaho [kung hindi siya makakauwi] dahil sa pagka-hold sa kanya," he added.

On Thursday,  Sueselbeck and Laude family's lawyer Harry Roque Jr. told GMA News Online that the German national would need to leave the country "as soon as possible," otherwise he would be fired from his work. "He was supposed to be back last Monday," he noted.

Roque, quoting Sueselbeck, said the ban on the German national from re-entering the country was a "cruel life sentence."

"He considers that as a cruel life sentence. He only wants to visit Jennifer's grave and to attend hearings," he said.

Cabunoc said the AFP remained firm in filing a complaint before the Integrated Bar of the Philippines against Roque for his failure to keep Sueselbeck and Laude's sister, Marilou, from climbing the fence and forcibly entering the restricted area.

He added that they would want to declare him persona non grata at the AFP "kung mapatunayan na labag ba talaga sa regulasyon."

“They will hopefully stop their tirades which I consider as threat to my security,” Roque said. —Amanda Fernandez/NB, GMA News
