Miriam on VP Binay’s snub: The innocent is brave, the guilty flees

Senator Miriam Defensor-Santiago on Thursday expressed bewilderment at Vice President Jejomar Binay's continued snub of the Senate inquiry into allegations of corruption against him.

 

Quoting from the Bible, the senator said: "The innocent is as brave as a lion, the guilty flees."

 

"Mahirap mawari ito," referring to Binay, citing the Vice President's refusal to air his side during the Senate proceedings. 

 

Earlier in the day, Binay was a no-show at the Senate Blue Ribbon Committee hearing on Thursday. Instead of his attendance, he sent a letter to the committee. 

 

The Senate panel has invited the Vice President to answer allegations of corruption such as the alleged overpricing of the P2.7-billion Makati City Hall Building II, and Binay's alleged ownership of a 350-hectare property in Rosario, Batangas. —NB, GMA News
