Palace: DSWD team to look into conditions at vagrant children’s facility in Manila

A fact-finding team of the Department of Social Welfare and Development will look into the conditions at a center in Manila for rescued vagrant children operated by the DSWD, after a photo of a "severely malnourished boy" in the facility circulated online, a Palace spokesman said on Sunday.

In a press briefing aired over state-run dzRB, Presidential Communications Secretary Herminio Coloma Jr. said DWSD Secretary Corazon Soliman has ordered a fact-finding team "to look at the conditions" of Reception and Action Center in Manila.

DSWD "can provide technical assistance" to the City of Manila's Social Welfare and Development Office, Soliman said in a text message to Coloma.

"Handang tumulong ang pambansang pamahalaan sa pamahalaan ng Lungsod ng Maynila upang pabutihin ang mga kondisyon sa Manila Reception Center," Coloma said.

Bahay Tuluyan on Oct. 3 posted a photo of a boy "severely malnourished, unwell, completely naked and lying on a cement floor, outdoors."  — Kathryn Mae P. Tubadeza /LBG, GMA News
