Songs, prayers of the faithful for Papal Mass at Manila Cathedral may be in PHL languages

The Songs for the Papal Mass at the Manila Cathedral on January 16, 2015 might be in different Philippine languages, if not, the prayers of the faithful might be, a television report said on Wednesday.

A report on GMA News TV's "Balitanghali" also quoted Manila Cathedral rector Msgr. Nestor C. Cerbo as saying they are also fixing, for Pope Francis' Mass, the pipe organ, known to be the biggest pipe organ in the country and possibly in Southeast Asia.

Cerbo also said that the pope will say the Mass in Latin but the congregation's responses will be in English.

Only 2,000 bishops, priests, and selected religious people are allowed to attend the Mass due to space limitation at the cathedral.

The Pope will be in the Philippines from January 15 to 19, 2015. He is set to visit 11 venues in Manila and Leyte, one of the areas hit hardest by super Typhoon Yolanda.

His activities include meeting the survivors of the killer typhoon that barreled across the Visayas on Nov. 8, 2013, leaving over 6,000 dead. — Trisha Macas /LBG, GMA News
