NGCP: Typhoon Ruby  causes 18 power line trips in Luzon, Visayas  


At least 18 lines of the National Grid Corp. of the Philippines in Luzon and Visayas experienced power line trips as of Sunday morning with only three lines restored so far, due to Typhoon Ruby.
 
In its 7 a.m. update, the NGCP said tripping affected the following lines:
 
Daraga-Sorsogon 69-kV line, Sorsogon province, out since 7:53 p.m., Dec. 6
 
Palanas-Cara-Allen 69-kV line, covering Allen, Victoria, San Isidro and Lavezares in Northern Samar, out since 12:12 p.m., Dec. 6
 
Paranas-Borongan 69-kV line, covering Sulat, Taft, Canavid, Dolores, Oras, San Policarpo, Arteche, Jipapad, Maslog, Borongan, San Julian, Maydolong, Llorente, Salcedo, Guiuan, MacArthur, Hernani, Quinapundan, Giporlos, Balangiga, Lawaan, out since 11:04 a.m., Dec. 6.
 
Babatgnon-Arado 69-kV Line, covering Tacoban City, Palo, Babatgnon, out since 2:50 p.m., Dec. 6.
 
Palanas Cara-Catarman 69-kV Line, covering Catubig, Gamas, Lao-ang, Pambuhan, Palapag, Las Navas, Bobon, Catarman, Mondragon, San Roque, Rosario, San Jose, Lope de Vega, out since 2:36 p.m., Dec. 6.
 
Nasaug-San Isidro-St. Bernard, covering Sogod, Bontoc, Libagon, Silago, Lioan, St. Bernard, San Juan, Anahawan, Hinundayan, Hinunangan, San Francisco, Pintuyan, San Ricardo, out since 3:19 p.m., Dec. 6.
 
Tolosa-San Isidro covering Macarthur, Abuyog, Mahaplag, Mayorga, Javier, out since 9:20 p,m., Dec. 6.
 
Calbayog-Palanas Cara 69-kV Line, covering Calbayog City, Sta. Margarita, out since 10:17 p.m., Dec. 6.
 
Ormoc-Tolosa 69-kV Line, covering Carigara, Capoocan, Tunga, Barugo, Jaro, Alang-Alang, Sta. Fe, San Miguel, Leyte, Calubian, Burawen, Dagami, Pastrana, Tolosa, Tanauan, Lapaz, Julita, Tabon-tabon, Dulag, out since 10:39 p.m., Dec. 6.
 
Maasin-Hilongos 69-kV Line, covering Hilongos, Bato, Hindang, Inopacan, Matalom, out since 11:24 p.m., Dec. 6.
 
Calbayog-Bliss 69-kV Line, covering San Agustin, out since 9:06 p.m., Dec. 6
 
Ormoc-Baybay 69-kV Line, covering Baybay, Ormoc City, Albuera, Merida, Kananga, out since 12:05 a.m., Dec. 7.
 
Ormoc-Isabel 138-kV Line, covering Isabel, Merida, Palompon, out since 9:47 p.m., Dec. 6
 
Ormoc-Babatngon 138-kV Line covering whole Samar, Tacloban City, Palo, Babatngon, out since 1:54 a.m., Dec. 7.
 
Panit-an-Sara 69-kV Line, covering Sara, Balasan, Estancia, out since 11:22 p.m., Dec. 6
 
Pitogo-Mulanay 69-kV line, covering Mulanay, Macalelon and Catanauan in Quezon,  restored 1:30 p.m., Dec. 6.
 
Tiwi-Tabaco-Malinao 69-kV Line, covering Malinao and Tabaco substations, restored 1:35 p.m., Dec. 6.
 
Milagro-Tunga, Tunga, Leyte, restored at 7:36 p.m.
 
Also affected were the Ormoc-Cabacungan 350-kV HVDC Line, Daanbantayan-Tabango Submarine Cable 230-kV Line 2, Tabango-Kananga 230-kV Line 1, Ormoc-Bongonan 138-kV Line, Babatngon-Paranas 138-kV Line, and Hilongos-Baybay/Hilongos PCB.
 
"Necessary preparations and precautions have been implemented to minimize the impact of the typhoon on NGCP operation and facilities. These include ensuring the availability of hardware materials and supplies necessary for the repair of damages to facilities, as well as the positioning of line crews in strategic areas, to facilitate immediate restoration work," NGCP said. — Kathryn Mae Tubadeza/LBG, GMA News
