DepEd: Christmas break to start after Dec. 19; classes resume Jan. 5
Elementary and high school students may start enjoying their Christmas break after Friday, December 19, until January 5, the first Monday of 2015.
This was the reminder of the Department of Education with just nine days to go before Christmas, radio dzBB's Glen Juego reported.

Under the school calendar, the last day of classes for 2014 will be on Dec. 19 while the first day of classes in 2015 will be on Jan. 5.
In DepEd Order No. 18, Education Secretary ARmin Luistro had indicated School Year 2014-2015 would start June 2 and will end March 27.
Luistro specified the school year will have 201 days.
Meanwhile, the DepEd over the weekend reminded schools of the no-collection policy for Christmas parties.
"The payment of such contributions shall not be made a requirement. Non-payment of voluntary school contributions shall not be made as a basis for non-admission, non-promotion, or non-issuance of clearance to a student—including the withholding of school cards," Luistro said.
He stressed any contribution in public schools should be voluntary. — Joel Locsin/RSJ, GMA News
