A bigger music studio inside Bilibid for Colangco's rival gang leader?

The series of raids inside the maximum security compound in New Bilibid Prison have brought to light various gang rivalries inside the facility.

Tensions have been brewing between members of Batang City Jail, whose chairman is Herbert "Ampang" Colangco, and Commando, which is led by JB Sebastian.

Colangco made headlines because of luxurious items found in his kubol during the raids, including music equipment in a recording studio where he even shot music videos.

But in a report on "24 Oras" on Friday, NBP chaplain Msgr. Roberto Olaguer said that Colangco may not be the only inmate with a music studio inside the prison.

"Ganoon din makikita halimbawa 'yung music studio ni Colangco. Sa size pa lang, sa laki mas malaki 'yung kay JB, sa instruments baka mas marami pa yung kay JB," said Olaguer.

Like Colangco, Sebastian also dabbles in music. A video posted by Youtube user Iris Mejia-Acosta in 2012 showed Sebastian performing with his band inside Bilibid.

Olaguer also raised questions about why areas under Sebastian's control were not subjected to raids.

"'Yung side ng presidio na andoon is JB, ang tanong ng mga tao, 'Bakit hindi pinuntahan 'yan?' May nagpunta rin doon na mga taga-NBI pero walang masyadong nakuha. Walang dinampot. Si JB nga naiwan doon," said Olaguer.

When asked for his side, Sebastian replied, "Normal sa kanya 'yung magturo," referring to Colangco.

The Department of Justice, for its part, denied only targeting certain personalities during the raid.

"Hinati natin, dito sa carcel ang may hawak si Colangco. Dito sa presidio, ang may hawak si JB Sebastian. So, on and off naman 'yan," said Bureau of Corrections Director Franklin Bucayu, who added that Sebastian's kubol will be inspected in the third wave of the operation.

Justice Secretary Leila de Lima said she is giving leaders of different groups inside Bilibid an ultimatum to surrender their firearms and other contraband items.

"Whether or not i-produce nila, determinado rin po kami na hanapin ang mga 'yun. If we have to turn the facility up and down, we will do it," she said. — Trisha Macas/JST, GMA News
