Longtime Cavite governor, Remulla patriarch, passes on
The patriarch of Cavite's and former Cavite Governor Juanito "Johnny" Remulla passed away early Monday morning at the age of 81.
His son, incumbent Cavite Governor Juanito Victor "Jonvic" Remulla confirmed to GMA News Online through a text message that his father died at 8:15 a.m. today due to multiple organ failure.
Johnny Remulla held the gubernatorial position in Cavite from 1979 to 1986.
Remulla also served as a Cavite governor under Corazon Aquino in 1988-1992.
Before he became the governor of Cavite, Remulla was already a member of the provincial board. He was also appointed as acting governor in 1964 and 1965.
Remulla was a lawyer and a business executive before he entered the government service.
He was the senior partner in the Remulla, Estrella & Associates Law Office and the chairman of the board of Covelandia Island Resort in Binakayan in Kawit, Cavite at the same time.

Remulla placed fourth in the 1956 bar examinations. He was among the top ten graduates of the University of the Philippines College of Law at that time.
He was a valedictorian in the Medicion Elementary School in Imus and first honorable mention in the high school department of the Francisco Law College.
Remulla was born on April 14, 1933 in Toclong, Imus, Cavite. He was the son of a farmer couple, Crispin Remulla and Teofista Reyes.
He married Ditas Catibayan and had seven children including former congressmen Jesus Crispin, Gilbert and the incumbent governor, Jonvic. —Trisha Macas/NB, GMA News
