3M mass booklets being printed for papal Mass at Quirino Grandstand
Since the papal Mass at the Quirino Grandstand on Sunday will be in multiple languages and dialects, the organizers have printed three million copies of missalettes or liturgical booklets to guide the attendees.
A printing press in Quezon City has already printed 1.5 million copies of the eight-page Mass guide, and printing 20,000 copies per hour using four web offset machines.
"We're very honored as part na magpi-print ng Sambuhay. Parang may connection na rin kami sa papal visit," Hiyas Printing Press Louie Gerard Abiva said.
The papal Mass missalette contains liturgical notes to explain the reason for the Eucharistic Celebration.
"In the spirit of mercy and compassion, Pope Francis embarks on a Pastoral Visit to the Philippines with the mission of bringing the compassion of Christ to those who struggle to rise from the devastation brought about by natural calamities and man-made upheavals," the first paragraph of the liturgical notes stated.
The missalette also mentions the Feast of Sto. Niño, which coincides with the papal Mass on Sunday.
The First Reading will be from the Book of the prophet Isaiah, which will be read in Tagalog. The Responsorial Psalm, Second Reading--a letter of Saint Paul to the Ephesians, and the Gospel reading from the Gospel of Mark will be read in English.
Pope Francis will then read the first line of Profession of Faith in Tagalog.
The Prayers of the Faithful will be read in different languages and dialects including Hiligaynon, Kapampangan, Ilokano, Cebuano, Waray, and Bikolano. But an English translation of the text will also be provided in the missalette.
The songs to be sung at the papal Mass are also included in the missalette.
At the end of the mass, a special candle lighting and mission sending will be expected. The crowd will then be prompted to sing the 1995 World Youth Day song "Tell the World of His Love" before Pope Francis' final blessing.
The last papal Mass at Quirino Grandstand was led by then Pope John Paul II. Five million people went to Luneta for that event. John Paul II was canonized last year.
