DepEd assistant secretary Tonisito Umali, in an interview on dzBB radio, reminded parents there are no fees required for early registration.
"Ang pinakamahalagang dokumentong kailangang dalhin ay ang birth certificate ng bata," he said.
The month-long registration in all public elementary and secondary schools nationwide will last until Feb. 27.
DepEd Secretary Armin Luistro said this will give the department a clear picture of the number of expected enrollees.
It will also help them in addressing challenges that may arise during the regular enrollment.
“Our collective aim is a smooth school opening come June, that is why we are preparing as early as January,” he said.
DepEd also enlisted the assistance of local and barangay officials for the early registration of out-of-school youths, those with difficulty in learning and the indigenous peoples. — Joel Locsin/LBG, GMA News
