Mother grieves for fallen PNP-SAF son: 'Managot na dapat ang managot!'

"Managot na ang dapat managot!"

 

Filled with grief and anger, the mother of one of the 44 fallen elite policemen who were killed last Sunday during a "misencounter" in Mamasapano town in Maguindanao tearfully called for justice for the death of his son.

 

"Ang hiling lang namin, sana managot na ang dapat managot kasi namatay na 'yung mga anak namin sa pagtatanggol sa bansa natin," Anastasia Capinding told reporters on Friday after the necrological services for the 42 slain PNP-Special Action Force policemen.

 

"Ang masasabi lang namin, hustisya talaga, hustisya talaga ang kailangan namin. Managot na ang dapat managot! Ang anak ko!" she said.

 

She was the mother of PO1 Loreto Guyab Capinding, 27 years old, who was among the members of the PNP-SAF team killed during a "misencounter" with Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) members and Bangsamoro Islamic Freedom Fighters (BIFF) last Sunday.

 

"Masakit po ang nangyari, ma'am, kasi ang bait-bait po ng anak ko. Ang sakit-sakit, hindi ko po maipaliwanag, kasi simula't sapul, ang bait-bait niya," said Anastacia, who was trembling in grief during the interview.

 

She also remembered how dutiful her son was.

 

"Masunurin na anak... Kahit saan magpunta... Masunurin po siya sa trabaho, ganoon po siya kabait," she said.

 

'He arrived whole'

 

Meanwhile, she shared that on Thursday, at the St. Peter's Chapel in Las Piñas, she saw for the first time the remains of his son.

 

"Durog na ang ulo, ang mukha niya, hindi ko maipaliwanag ang mukha niya," she said. "Buo ang katawanan, pero ang palatandaan ko sa anak ko ay kuko sa paa niya, 'yung mga daliri niya - kilalang-kilala ko 'yon."

 

"'Yung balat niya sana sa balikat, hinahanap namin, kaso hindi na kita," she said. "Iba na 'yung itsura niya. Parang maniquin na."

 

Despite this, she said she felt better that her son returned "whole."

 

"Pero buo ang anak ko," she said. "Ang unang balita, naputol raw ang ulo ng anak ko, at tinanggal ang ari, pero hindi totoo." — JST, GMA News
