A report on GMA News TV's News TV Live said the members of the Dimasupil Class, and their wives, wore black armbands with the number 44 written on them, during PMA rites in Fort Gregorio Del Pilar in Baguio City.
Forty-four elite police commandos died during the clash with members of the Moro Islamic Liberation Front, along with its splinter group Bangsamoro Islamic Freedom Fighters and some armed groups in Maguindanao.
The troopers were on a mission to arrest Malaysian terrorist Zulkifi bin Hir alias Marwan of Jemaah Islamiyah and Filipino bomb maker and Abu Sayyaf member Basit Usman. Marwan was reportedly killed while Usman was able to escape.
Among those present during the PMA homecoming are Interior Secretary Manuel Roxas II and Presidential Commission on Visiting Force Agreement Executive Director Eduardo Oban. — Amanda Fernandez/LBG, GMA News
