Arson probers eye 15-day investigation on PPL fire

Arson investigators may need at least 15 days to look into the cause of a two-day fire that hit the Maritime Industry Authority (Marina) office in Manila. Manila Fire Marshal Superintendent Pablito Cordeta said they may enlist the help of the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) in analyzing any evidence they find. "Yung investigation I think 15 days (I think we'll need 15 days for the investigation)," he said in an interview on dzAR radio. He said arson investigators are now in the process of looking for materials in at the fire's focal point or "ground zero." Arson investigators are still unsure whether there was foul play in the predawn fire that hit the Marina office at the PPL Building in Manila Wednesday. Firefighters declared the fire "out" shortly before midnight Wednesday but the fire restarted before dawn Thursday. "Kukuha tayo ng materials at dadalhin sa lab, sa NBI lab to test whether may possible (na) intentional. We'll be gathering more evidence (We'll get materials and bring them possibly to the NBI laboratory to see if there was foul play)," Cordeta said. - GMANews.TV
