PDEA gives out P12M to drug informers


The Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) announced Friday that a total of P12 million has already been given to at least 29 informants who have helped the agency on its anti-drug operations campaign. PDEA chief, Senior Undersecretary and Director General Dionisio Santiago, said the monetary reward that forms part of Operation: Private Eye grants monetary reward to civilian informants who gave vital information that led to the dismantling of drugs operations in the past. He said the handing out of the monetary reward was held last Thursday during simple ceremonies at the PDEA headquarters in Barangay (village) Pinyahan, Quezon City. "A total of P12, 302, 735 were received by the 29 informants for providing information resulting in the dismantling of shabu laboratories, a shabu warehouse, seizure of 1,299 kilograms of shabu, 45,209 liters of chemicals, 3,688 kilograms of ephedrine, 91,443 kilograms of marijuana and 993 grams of cocaine; the arrest of 54 people, including Chinese/Taiwanese nationals and 48 Filipinos involved in illegal drug activities," Santiago said. Santiago added that the anti-drug operations also resulted in the arrest of three Chinese nationals who are included in the wanted list of Dangerous Drugs Manufacturers and Traffickers pursuant to Dangerous Drugs Board (DDB) Regulation No. 7; 16 buy-bust operations and three transportations of marijuana leaves and hashish. Aside from Santiago who stands as its chairman, the rewards committee is composed of PDEA Assistant Secretary Rodolfo Caisip as vice chairman and Police Supt. Joselito M. Vera Cruz, lawyer Ramon Esguerra, Martin Paragoso, Father Feliciano C. Balanguil and Donald Dee as members. - GMANews.TV
