(Update 2) Fire guts Copacabana apartment in Pasay

A fire of still unknown origin broke out in a building in Pasay City, radio dzBB reported Tuesday night. Quoting police reports, DzBB said the flame that started at about 9:50 p.m. ate away properties in a room under renovation at the 10th floor of Copacabana Apartment Hotel, beside Heritage Hotel along Efipanio Delos Santos Avenue (EDSA), corner Cuneta Avenue. Two alarms were struck by firemen when the blaze sent up thick clouds of smoke. DzBB said the fire was put out at about 10:35 p.m. Chief Inspector Ruel de Viaz, Pasay City fire marshal, told dzBB that investigation has not yet commenced because they are still conducting mopping-up operations. He said firemen were able to prevent the flame from spreading out. DzBB said the blaze caused heavy traffic jam along Roxas Boulevard. No casualty has been reported as of posting time. - GMANews.TV
