(Update) Inmate threatens to jump off QC Hall of Justice
Tensions rose Wednesday afternoon at the Quezon City Hall of Justice after a male inmate slipped past security escorts and nearly jumped from the building's fourth floor. Radio station dzBB identified the inmate as Jomar Gomez, who kept authorities at bay as he threatened to leap off the floor railings. He was still wearing handcuffs when the incident occurred. Gomez has a pending rape case and had just come from the Quezon City Police District (QCPD)-Station 3. He was taken to the hall of justice to undergo inquest proceedings. After some convincing from QC chief prosecutor Meynard Bautista, Gomez surrendered and was taken into custody by Senior Superintendent Nestor Abalos of the QCPD. After the incident, radio dzBB reported that the female complainant decided to still pursue the case against Gomez. The suspect reportedly wanted to bribe the victim with P 5,000 for her to withdraw the complaint. Gomez reportedly feared that the policemen in-charge of him could threaten his life. But Abalos assured Gomez's safety, dzBB said. - GMANews.TV
