List of in-demand jobs for fresh grads released by online job portal

Students graduating from colleges and universities this academic year are now busy preparing their resumes and on-the-job-training papers.

To help students find jobs, GMA's "24 Oras" compiled a list of sectors with in-demand jobs using data from job portal site JobStreet on Tuesday:

- Call Center
- Customer Service
- IT/Computer Hardware and Software
- Telesales
- Clerical/Administrative Support
- Human Resources
- Banking
- Hotel Management
- Tourism
- Marketing
- Business Development

JobStreet Marketing Director Yoda Buyco said that employers look for some "semblance of experience" such as internships, part-time jobs, community work, and leadership positions in college organizations.

Megaworld Sales Recruitment Manager Janette Lee asaid companies that deal with international clients are keen on employees who can speak multiple languages.

"Kailangan din namin ng multilingual dahil ang client namin may Korean, Japanese, Chinese. May edge 'pagka meron kang alam na other language," Lee explained.

Good communication skills and a great attitude are a plus, as a 2011 survey by JobStreet showed that the second and third biggest reasons in rejecting fresh graduates were “bad character, attitude and personality of the jobseekers” and “poor command of English language”.

"The chances are great, the opportunities are there, but meron kaming caveat that they should qualify. Mga taong hinahanap ngayon are people who not only have educational experience," Labor and Employment Spokesperson Dir. Nicon Fameronag said.

Buyco reminded students that students must consider their specialization, strengths, and passion in choosing their jobs.
