Bong’s lawyers submit proof daughter is graduating

The lawyers of detained Sen. Bong Revilla Jr. on Thursday submitted proof that Revilla’s daughter Loudette is part of the graduating class of the De La Salle Zobel High School in connection with his request to be allowed to attend.

“Accused Sen. Ramon 'Bong' Revilla, Jr., by counsel, in compliance with this Honorable Court's Order during the hearing on March 26, 2015, and in support of his Motion dated March 22, 2015, respectfully submits herewith the attached Certification dated March 26, 2015 issued by the Registrar and the Vice Principal for Academic Affairs of De La Salle Zobel School, stating that Ma. Franzel Loudette Bautista is a bona fide student at the School, who will graduate on March 28, 2015, and will receive certain awards during the graduation ceremonies,” Revilla’s lawyers said in a manifestation.

The certification was made after government lawyers expressed skepticism that Loudette was graduating, since Revilla failed to provide proof in his motion for temporary furlough to attend the ceremonies.

“He should have, at the very least, substantiated his claim with proof that his daughter Loudette is indeed one of the candidates for graduation from De La Salle Zobel,” the prosecution said.

“Inasmuch as accused Revilla has not provided any basis to support his assertion, which claims remain unsubstantiated and self serving, this Honorable Court is left with nothing for the purpose of evaluating the merits of the instant motion,” it added.

A separate letter from the school officials confirmed that Revilla’s daughter will be receiving several awards.

“She will join the graduation rites on March 28, 2015 and will receive the following awards: Exemplary Conduct Award; Special Exemplary Award; Alfonso Yuchengco mational Discipline Award; St. Mutien Marie Award and the St. La Salle Award,” Registrar Maria Socorro Diesta and High School Vice Principal for Academics Agnes Panaligan said in their one page letter.

Revilla is asking the Sandiganbayan to allow him temporary liberty on March 28 from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m. “or until the time the graduation ceremonies is finished, subject to terms and conditions which this honorable court may impose.” — Patricia Denise Chiu/JDS, GMA News
