Men blackmailed after stripping for Pinays on Skype — report

At least two men have claimed to be blackmailed by Filipinas who they met online, a Malaysian news site reported.

Citing a report in the vernacular newspaper “Harian Metro,” Malaysia’s The Star Online said the men met the “Filipinas” on a social networking site.

The women would usually invite them to a conversation on videoconferencing service Skype, then ask them to strip naked in front of the camera.

But they would allegedly use the resulting video clips to blackmail them, the report said.

One victim, a 35-year-old fitness instructor, said he became “close” with one such “Filipina,” communicating via e-mail and Skype.

When their “relationship” reached the third month, he said the woman claimed to have fallen in love with him – and suggested that they get naked in front of the camera to “prove” their love.

“I did not agree initially but relented when she began taking off her clothes. This woman, who claimed to be a model, even promised to come to Malaysia to marry me,” he said.

After that, the woman then threatened to post his video online, unless he paid RM30,000 (roughly P3,63,192). He haggled for a “lower” RM5,000 (P60,532).

A second victim said he met a “Filipina” on Facebook. She similarly asked him to strip before the camera – then blackmailed him for RM3,000 (P36,319).

But in the second victim’s case, he said he lodged a police report instead. — Joel Locsin/LBG, GMA News
