Only 3,381 of 29,208 pass Napolcom exams
Only 3,381 or 11.57 percent of a total of 29,208 examinees have passed the National Police Commission (Napolcom)-administered police examinations on April 29 in designated schools in Metro Manila and 16 other testing centers nationwide. In a statement Wednesday, Interior Secretary and Napolcom Chairman Ronaldo Puno said the low passing rate in the Philippine National Police (PNP) Entrance and Promotional examinations was due to Napolcomâs continuous upgrading of standards in screening applicants. Puno said in the case of the PNP entrance examination, which is a requirement for initial appointment to the rank of Police Officer I (PO1), only 2,306 or 12.89 percent of the 17,887 examinees passed. He said of the 1,321 examinees who took the promotional tests, only 1,075 or 9.50 percent passed, with 925 in the Police Officer examination, 126 in the Senior Police Officer examination, 18 in the Inspector examination and six in the Superintendent examination. âThe low passing rate in both exams may be attributed to the Commissionâs continuous upgrading of standards on its police examinations in line with its sustained effort to professionalize the PNP by ensuring that only the best and most qualified individuals are admitted and promoted in the police service," Puno said. âHence, only the cream of the crop can enter the PNP." Puno said that the list of successful examinees is already posted at the Napolcom central office in Makati City and can be viewed on its website at www.napolcom.gov.ph. âIndividual reports of rating will soon be mailed out to all examinees. Verification of test results will be entertained on June 25 by the NAPOLCOM central office and its regional offices nationwide" Puno said. Puno said examination results can also be accessed through text by typing napolcom
