PNoy appoints Ninoy’s ex-aide to Martial Law advisory panel

President Benigno Aquino III has appointed a former aide of his father, the late Senator Benigno “Ninoy” Jr., to the Martial Law historical advisory committee.

Aquino named Fluellen Ortigas, Ninoy’s former legislative aide and chief liaison to farmers and the academe, to the panel formed by the President in 2012 to compile materials and stories on the Martial Law years.

Ninoy was assassinated in 1983 upon his arrival in Manila, a crime widely blamed on the presidency of the late dictator Ferdinand Marcos.

Ortigas is also the current president of renewable energy firm Pan Pacific Power Philippines Corporation.

Aside from Ortigas, President Aquino also formalized the appointment of Felix Perry Villanueva as Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR) undersecretary.

Prior to his appointment, Villanueva was officer-in-charge of the DAR’s office for planning and finance.

Lawyer Reynaldo Bicol Jr. was meanwhile appointed by the President to the Inter-agency Council against Child Pornography.
