56 job fairs with 251k vacancies on Labor Day


More than 251,000 job opportunities will be up for grabs at 56 job fairs nationwide on Labor Day on Friday, the Department of Labor and Employment said.
 
DOLE Secretary Rosalinda Baldoz reminded jobseekers to bring documents needed to apply for the job opportunities:
 
- resume or curriculum vitae
- 2 x 2 ID pictures (bring extra copies for multiple job applications)
- certificate of employment, for those formerly employed
- diploma and/or transcript of records
- authenticated birth certificate.
 
“A total of 251,677 vacancies are ready for jobseekers in the whole country. Of this number, 86,745, or 34.47 percent, are local job vacancies, while 160,525, or 63.78 percent, are overseas job opportunities,” said Baldoz.
 
The DOLE said 1,398 employers from different regions are participating in this year’s Labor Day job fairs.
 
In Metro Manila, the DOLE job fair will be at the Philippine International Convention Center, with 75 local and 28 local employers participating.
 
Other job fairs will be held at these locales and locations:
 
Cordillera: Baguio Convention Center, Baguio City, with 25 local and 10 overseas employers.
 
Region 1: SM City Rosales, Pangasinan and at Robinsons Place in San Nicolas, Ilocos Norte.
 
Region 2: SM City Cauayan and Robinson’s Mall Santiago City, with 83 local and 17 foreign employers.
 
Region 3: Puregold N. E. Baler, Suklayin, Aurora; SM City Baliuag, DRT Highway, Pagala, Baliuag, Bulacan; SM City Marilao, McArthur Highway, Pagala, Marilao, Bulacan; Freedom Park, Burgos Street, Cabanatuan City, Nueva Ecija; SM Mega Center The Mall, San Roque Melencio, Cabanatuan City, Nueva Ecija; SM City Clark, Clarkfield, Pampanga; SM City Downtown, City of San Fernando, Pampanga; SM City Pampanga, City of San Fernando, Pampanga; SM City, Tarlac, Tarlac; Masinloc Gymnasium, Masinloc, Zambales; and SM City Olongapo, Olongapo City.
 
A post-labor day job fair at the main campus of the Bataan Polytechnic State University Main Campus, Balanga City, will be held on May 6.
 
Region 4-A: 15 job fairs at SM Rosario, Rosario, Cavite; SM Bacoor, Bacoor, Cavite; SM Molino, Molino, Cavite, SM Dasmariñas, Dasmariñas, Cavite; The District Mall, Imus, Cavite; Savemore Sta. Rosa, Sta. Rosa, Laguna; SM Calamba, Calamba, Laguna; SM San Pablo, San Pablo, Laguna; SM Lipa, Lipa City, Batangas; SM Batangas, Batangas, Batangas City Sports Coliseum; SM Lucena, Lucena, Quezon; SM City Masinag, Antipolo City, Rizal; SM City Taytay, Taytay, Rizal; and SM Center Angono, Angono, Rizal.
 
Region 4-B: two job fairs at the Pinamalayan Gymnasium, Pinamalayan, Oriental Mindoro; and Robinson’s Place Palawan, Puerto Princesa City, Palawan.
 
Region 5: SM City Naga, with 33 local and three overseas employers.
 
Region 6: SM City Iloilo, Manduriao, Iloilo City; Amigo Plaza Mall, Iloilo City; and at the Main Atrium, North Wing, SM City Bacolod, Bacolod City, with 54 local and 24 overseas employers.
 
Region 7: six job fairs at the Cebu City Sports Complex, Cebu City; SM Cebu City; SM Consolacion; Cebu Provincial Capitol; Lapu-lapu City, and Robinson’s Place, Dumaguete City. Some 46 local and 45 overseas employers will participate.
 
Region 8: Tacloban City Convention Center and Ormoc City Hall, Ormoc City, with 24 local and two government, and eight overseas employers.
 
Region 9: Zamboanga Del Norte City Gymnasium in Dapitan; and at the Zamboanga Economic Freeport Authority in Talisayan, Zamboanga City, with four government, 16 local, and 22 overseas employers.
 
Region 10: SM City, Cagayan De Oro City, with seven government, 45 local, and 17 overseas employers.
 
Region 11: Gaisano Mall of Davao City; Gaisano Mall of Tagum City; SM City Davao-Ecoland; and Darong Barangay Gym, Sta. Cruz, Davao Del Sur, with one government, 80 local, and 33 overseas employers.
 
Region 12: Gensan KCC Mall, with 30 local and 20 overseas employers.
 
Caraga: Almont Inland Resort on J.C. Aquino Avenue, Butuan City, with 29 local and 10 overseas employers.
 
Industries
 
The DOLE said industries with the most number of vacancies in the Labor Day job fairs are manufacturing (12.9 percent); transport, storage, and communications (6.7 percent); Other community, social, and personal service activities, 5.8 percent; and wholesale and retail trade; repair of motor vehicles, motorcycles, and personal household goods (4.6 percent).
 
It said the top ten occupations for local employment are: (1) production machine operator, with 14,398 vacancies; (2) welder, 8,130 vacancies; (3) call center agent, 1,610 vacancies; (4) customer service representative, 1,602 vacancies; (5) sewer or tailor, 1,230 vacancies; (6) factory worker or production worker, 1,114 vacancies; (7) office staff or clerk, 1,019 vacancies; (8) merchandiser, 998 vacancies; (9) sales and marketing assistant, 778 vacancies; and painter, 650 vacancies.
 
For overseas employment, the following are the top 10 occupations: (1) construction worker with 11,575 vacancies; (2) office staff, 4,031 vacancies; (3) professional nurse, 3,024 vacancies; (4) domestic helper, 2,414 vacancies; (5) medical staff, 1,899 vacancies; (6) hotel and restaurant crew, 1,610 vacancies; (7) office administrator, 1,500 vacancies; (8) laborer, 1,357 vacancies; (9) welder, 1,000 vacancies; and (10) staff nurse, 964 vacancies. — Joel Locsin/ELR, GMA News
