Party-mate tight-lipped on Manny Villar’s plan for 2016 polls

(Updated 5:20 pm.) Former Senate President Manny Villar has plans for 2016, but his party-mates at the Nacionalista Party are tight-lipped about it.
“Kami alam namin, nagsabi siya, pero I don’t want to be the one to say it. You ask Sen. Cynthia [Villar] para mas authoritative,” said Sen. Ferdinand Marcos Jr., referring to Villar's wife.
“Siya (Manny Villar) na lang ang tanungin nyo at si Sen. Cynthia para mas maliwanag ang usapan,” Marcos added.
Senator Cynthia Villar has repeatedly refused in past interviews to bare the political plans of her husband in 2016.
Manny Villar ran for president in the 2010 elections but lost to then-Senator Benigno Aquino III.
Marcos said they were able to discuss the scenarios in the coming 2016 polls in their Japan cruise, but added no definite decision was made yet.
“Marami ang nagsasabi na dapat ganito, ganyan, yun ang sinasabi kong scenario building. Kung tumakbo si ganito, ganito ang maging vice. Napunta na nga ang usapan sa paano kung namatay si ganito, [ang sabi ko] hindi naman mamamatay yang mga yan bakit nyo pinag-uusapan?” he said.
Marcos said Manny Villar told them to wait for developments from other parties and the decisions of their members before making a party decision.
“Ang sabi lang ni President Manny [ay] antayin muna ang developments at merong presidentiable ang NP. Bago tayo mag-commit sa iba ay tignan natin kung ano ang gagawin ng members natin,” he said.
He said Senate Majority Leader Alan Peter Cayetano and Trillanes have already declared their readiness to run for higher post. Marcos said his name was also mentioned as one of the possible candidates.
“Wala naman akong confirmation, pero antayin natin ang desisyon ng mga members,” he said.
Asked if the they talked about negotiations with the opposition coalition United Nationalist Alliance, Marcos said they were not able to discuss it in detail.
“Hindi namin napag-usapan yung specifics na yun basta ang sinasabi bago tayo makipag-usap sa ibang partido o ibang individual na kandidato ayusin muna natin kung ano ang gagawin ng mga members natin,” he said. — KBK/RSJ, GMA News

Members of the Nacionalista Party went on a Japan cruise last April 24 to May 1 where the 2016 national and local elections were discussed. However, no definite plan was made, according to Sen. Antonio Trillanes IV, a member of the party.
In a text message to GMA News Online, Trillanes said Villar is “not considering another 2016 run.”
Despite this, Trillanes said he is personally pushing for Villar to seek the presidency.
