DepEd readies P14B for 'incentive' for teachers, personnel

Qualified Department of Education teachers and personnel may soon get their Productivity Enhancement Incentive (PEI) equivalent to one month's salary.

The Department of Education said the Department of Budget and Management had released P14 billion for the PEI.

"Eligible DepEd employees shall receive a one-time PEI equivalent to one month basic salary, pursuant to Executive Order 181, series of 2015," the DepEd said.

It said the DBM recently issued the Special Allotment Release Order (SARO) for the release of funds for the PEI for fiscal year 2015.

The DepEd said the funds are now being downloaded to DepEd regional offices.

DepEd Secretary Armin Luistro directed field offices to prepare the payroll of the qualified employees, it added.

Qualified employees

DepEd personnel qualified to receive the PEI include:

- those who rendered at least a total or an aggregate of four months of service as of May 31, 2015, including leaves of absence with pay, and who are still in the service as of May 31, 2015
- those obtained at least a satisfactory performance rating.

Employees who rendered less than four months of satisfactory service as of May 31, 2015 may still get the full PEI upon completion of the four months and satisfactory service rating requirements before the end of 2015.  — Joel Locsin/ELR, GMA News
