DPWH hiring 1,396 civil engineers

The Department of Public Works and Highways is looking for 1,396 civil engineers for its regional and district offices nationwide.

DPWH Secretary Rogelio Singson said the Department of Budget and Management let it hire more civil engineers to implement infrastructure projects.

In a post on its website, the DPWH said the 1,396 new civil engineers will be hired as Engineer II with a monthly salary of P26,878.

“To meet the Department’s target to increase infrastructure spending, we are hiring more than a thousand ... dedicated civil engineers nationwide to be part of our team of field engineers,” Singson said.

Applicants must be licensed civil engineers with at least one year of relevant working experience and at least four hours of relevant training.

Singson DPWH said preference will be given to those not more than 30 years old.

Qualified applicants will have to pass the Computer Literacy Exam (CLE) administered by the DPWH Information Management Service.

The DPWH said Singson has been advocating the recruitment of young and purpose-driven civil engineers.

In 2013, he introduced the Cadet Engineering Program in the DPWH, to produce the best civil engineers through an extensive training focusing on the development of technical and professional competencies.

The DPWH hired 40 cadet engineers under the program’s first batch. In 2015, 41 young civil engineering graduates were in the second batch and are training in engineering functions of the DPWH. — Joel Locsin/JDS, GMA News
