Intense rain, floods threaten Cavite, Laguna; Yellow warning in Central Luzon


State weather agency PAGASA issued on Wednesday afternoon heavy rainfall warnings in provinces south of Metro Manila as well as those in Cental Luzon.

The warning was issued at 5 p.m.

Orange Warning Level was raised over Cavite and Laguna. Flooding is threatening in these areas, PAGASA said.

Yellow Warning Level was also raised in the following provinces where flooding in low lying areas are possible:

- ‎Bataan
- Zambales
‎- Batangas
‎- Pampanga
‎- Tarlac
‎- Nueva Ecija
‎- Rizal

Meanwhile, PAGASA said light to moderate rainfall is affecting portions of Metro Manila, Bulacan, and Quezon which may persist within two to three hours.

In an earlier update, the state weather forecasters issued a thunderstorm advisory in Dinapigue, Isabela at 4:45 p.m.. PAGASA said that the thunderstorm may affect not only Isabela but neary areas for one to two hours.

"All are advised to take precautionary measures against heavy rains, strong winds and lightning and possible flashfloods," the advisory warned.

Light to moderate rainfall is also affecting ‎the following areas for one to two hours:

- Pangasinan
- Nueva Vizcaya (Alfonso Castaneda, Santa Fe, Aritao, and Kasibu)
‎- Aurora (Maria Aurora and Dipaculao)  

In its 5 p.m. bulletin, PAGASA warned residents of Metro Manila and nearby areas in Western Luzon of heavy rainfall and flash floods because of enhanced southwest monsoon as Typhoon Falcon (Chan-Hom) is on its way out of the Philippine Area of Responsibility. -Trisha Macas/NB, GMA News
