May Pasok! Palace reminds July 27 is a 'working' holiday

The Palace reminded the public on Monday that July 27 is a special national working holiday.
According to the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE), an employee is entitled only to his basic rate on special working holidays.

"No premium pay is required since work performed on said days is considered work on ordinary working days," DOLE said.

July 27 was declared a special national working holiday in 2008 through Republic Act No. 9645 in commemoration of the founding anniversary of the Iglesia Ni Cristo (INC) in the country.

Last year, President Benigno Aquino III declared July 27 a non-working holiday to commemorate the centennial anniversary of the INC, the largest Christian church in the Philippines with ministries in at least 100 countries. —ALG, GMA News
