Floating booms with foreign character markings seen off Zambales
Orange floating booms with foreign character markings were seen off Zambales province Saturday morning.
Some fishermen from Iba town brought some of the booms to shore, GMA News correspondent Peewee Bacuño reported.
The fishermen said the booms were found near Bajo de Masinloc (also known as Panatag Shoal), an area disputed by the Philippines and China.

At least 10 fishing boats towed the floating booms to Sitio Lanao in Barangay San Agustin in Iba. The floating booms are used to prevent the spread of oil in the water.

Bacuño said that as of Saturday afternoon, local and police officials went to the area to investigate.
Markings on one of the booms indicated a phone number that possibly corresponds to a Chinese firm making rubber products such as dredging hoses, oil hoses, quakeproof rubber support, rubber fenders and other rubber products. — Joel Locsin/LBG, GMA News
