Visit to Bukidnon market brings to mind Mar’s Mr. Palengke campaign

Interior Secretary Mar Roxas on Thursday visited a public market during in Valencia, Bukidnon, sparking speculations that he was going back to his Mr. Palengke image--the campaign that made him rank first in the senatorial elections in 2004, GMA News' "24 Oras" reported on Thursday.

He said that although he was no longer using the moniker, he has never forgotten caring for the public markets.

"Hindi naman na nawala sa akin ang Mr. Palengke.... Nag-iba ang aking tungkulin, ganunpaman, sa iba-ibang tungkulin ko ay parati kong inaalala na dapat masigla ang ating mga palengke dahil iyan ang sentro de komersyo," Roxas said.

Roxas was in Bukidnon for the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) project Bottom-Up Budgeting (BUB) and for a Daang Matuwid dialogue at Bukidnon State University.

He was joined by Department of Social Welfare and Development Secretary Dinky Soliman.
