Bicolano lawmaker: Leni Robredo ‘stressed’ by VP talk

Camarines Sur Rep. Leni Robredo is becoming "stressed" by the persistent prodding from certain sectors and Liberal Party (LP) members that she run as Interior Secretary Mar Roxas’ running mate in the 2016 elections, one of her colleagues in Congress said.

Ako Bicol party-list Rep. Rodel Batocabe said Robredo, his former classmate, personally told him that she and her children were stressed about the talk of a possible vice presidential run for her.

“I can personally tell na si Leni nai-stress dito sa pagpatakbo sa kanya bilang pangalawang pangulo. Actually ayaw naman talaga niya. Natatakot siya because of the position. Hindi man lang niya kinu-consider na maging pangalawang pangulo,” he said in a press briefing.

Batocabe said part of the reason is that Robredo does not want to be forced into running against her and her children’s wishes.

“Nai-stress out siya kasi para ang nangyayari, mapipilitan siyang um-oo,” he said.

Robredo’s name has been floated as a possible running mate for Roxas in lieu of Senator Grace Poe, who has told the Liberal Party not to wait for her answer to their offer.
