Some groups trying to cause rift between Mar, Poe  - Palace exec

Some groups are trying to destroy the relationship between Interior Secretary Mar Roxas and Senator Grace Poe, whose tandem is being pushed by the ruling Liberal Party (LP) for the 2016 polls, a Malacañang official said Wednesday.

Asked if the administration is really behind the black propaganda against Poe, Lacierda replied in a text message, "It makes no sense for us to invite her to be VP and at the same time attack her.”

He further said that “there are attempts by some quarters to drive a wedge between” Roxas and Poe.

Lacierda did not give a categorical answer when asked which group he is referring to and how it will benefit from supposed attempts to cause a rift between the two politicians.

“That’s a good question to ask,” the Palace official simply said.

Earlier this week, Poe lamented how some of Roxas’ allies were supposedly backstabbing her, while the presumptive administration standard-bearer is wooing her to be his running mate.

“Sinabi ko sa kanya, alam mo, secretary, tayo pag nag-uusap diretsahan pero may mga tao kayo na talagang tinitira ako sa likod. Alam ko iyon sapagkat nakakarating sa akin kung saan-saang mga venue. Handa naman kami sa legalidad (ng mga issue) pero hanggang sinusuyo ako pero kabaligtaran naman ang ginagawa ng iba. Ano ba naman iyon?” Poe said.

Poe, who led recent presidential and vice-presidential preference polls, said the LP should no longer wait for her decision on her political plans for the 2016 polls, pointing out that the ruling party has a lot of choices for Roxas’ running mate. —ALG/JJ, GMA News
