Rizalito David: I did not call Grace Poe ‘pulot,’ ‘ampon’

Defeated senatorial candidate Rizalito David clarified that he did not use the words "pulot" and "ampon" in his statements about Senator Grace Poe.

A News TV Live report on Wednesday quoted David as saying that he never referred to Poe that way, using instead the words "foundling" and "stateless."

He issued the clarification after veteran actress Susan Roces, Poe's mother, lashed back at the senator's critics for questioning her citizenship.

David said the complaints he filed against Poe were legal matters, but that Roces' comments turned it into an emotional affair.

David, who placed 50th among 61 candidates in 2013, has filed a quo warranto complaint against Poe before the Senate Electoral Tribunal (SET) and an electoral offense with the Commission one Elections for alleged "material misrepresentation."

His complaints, he said, were based on the grounds that she filed her certificate of candidacy even when she isn't a natural born Filipino citizen and didn't meet the required period of residence. - Rose-An Jessica Dioquino/KBK/JJ, GMA News
