Palace calls anew on Honasan to surrender
Malacañang again called on fugitive former Sen. Gregorio ââ¬ÅGringo" Honasan to surrender, saying it would contribute to the countryââ¬â¢s political stability. Press Secretary Ignacio Bunye on Wednesday said it would be better for Honasan to face trial for rebellion, instead of trying to clear his name through the media. ââ¬ÅIt would be better for all concerned if former Senator Honasan should turn himself in and face the music," Bunye said. ââ¬ÅWe are interested to hear his side on his alleged participation in the repeated attempts to bring down the government." Executive Secretary Eduardo Ermita said that by remaining in hiding, Honasan was only depriving himself of his day in court. Ermita added that while the Department of Justice believes that it has a strong case against the former senator, it would be the courts that would decide whether he was really behind the failed 2003 Oakwood mutiny.-GMANews.TV
