Philippines, Australia armies to conduct joint exercises
The Philippine Army on Sunday announced that the country's troops will conduct two joint exercises with the Australian army this year.
The two exercises are the Philippine-Australia Exercise ‘Dusk’ Caracha and the Philippine-Australia Exercise ‘Dawn’ Caracha.
The Philippine Army said it will send 25 personnel from the Light Reaction Regiment Special Operations Command to participate in the Exercise "Dusk" Caracha 2015 in Perth, Western Australia from September 15 to 26.
It said the Exercise "Dusk" Caracha aims to enhance the counter-terrorist skills and capabilities of the Philippine Army's Light Reaction Regiment utilizing the training facilities of the Special Air Service Regiment in Australia.
Exercise ‘Dusk’ Caracha will also include closed-quarter battle training, sniper skills development training, and unit collective training, it added.
Troops from Australia, meanwhile, will be sent to the Philippines for the Exercise "Dawn" Caracha 2015.
The exercise will be held October 19 to 30 in Fort Magsaysay, Nueva Ecija. It will involve 102 participants from the Philippine Army and 15 soldiers from the Australian Army.
The Philippine Army said that the exercise is an annual army-to-army exercise between the Special Air Service Regiment, Special Operations Command, Australia and their counterparts in the country.
It aims to enhance the interoperability between the Special Forces units of both countries. —ALG, GMA News
