Comelec: Parties have until Oct. 9 to submit list of authorized signatories

Political parties have until Oct. 9 to submit a list of authorized signatories that will certify the nomination of their candidates, the Commission on Elections spokesman said Monday.

Comelec Director James Jimenez explained that the signatures will be used for the Certificate of Nomination and Acceptance (CONA) of the parties' official candidates.

The CONA is a document that verifes that a candidate is officially being nominated by a political party.

“We know the political parties are busy with their political conventions at this time. But we are reminding them that they should already submit to our Law Department a list of their authorized signatories,” he added.

Jimenez said the list of authorized signatories shall include three specimen signatures, their positions, and their respective jurisdictions or places of authority to nominate and sign the CONAs.

Under Comelec Resolution No. 9984, the failure to submit the list of authorized signatories with specimen signatures will mean their candidates will be considered as independents.
