BI’s alien registration program ends Sept. 30

The Bureau of Immigration (BI) has reminded foreigners with improper immigration documents to put their papers in order on Wednesday, September 30, the deadline for its Alien Registration Program.

BI Commissioner Siegfred Mison said the agency would no longer extend the same leniency to the foreigners concerned after the deadline.

Mison warned that any foreign national who is found to have violated the immigration laws would immediately be deported.

The registration, mapping, and foreigner-assistance program started on October 1, 2014.

“This one-year assistance to foreign nationals allowed us to assist those with improper immigration documents to regularize their stay in the Philippines,” Mison  said.

Mison said the ARP was able to process 460 cases of foreign nationals who have either overstayed or have incomplete papers.

He said that majority of the foreign nationals who availed of the program had been victimized by fixers and have families in the Philippines.

Those who wish to avail of the program may download the application form at www.immigration.gov.ph. —NB, GMA News
