Leni Robredo trends on Twitter after declaring VP run in 2016

(Updated 6 p.m.) After announcing her intention to run for vice president under the banner of the Liberal Party in 2016, Camarines Sur Rep. Leni Robredo trended on Twitter on Monday.

As of posting time, "Leni Robredo" has peaked at the top two spot in the Philippines, second only to #ALDUBSwitch. She also beat fan-related trending topics such as #MTVFANWARSDirectioners and #KpopPaMore.

According to Topsy social analytics, "Leni Robredo" has earned over 3,000 tweets since Monday morning, her biggest Twitter moment in the past month.

Meanwhile, her tweet posted a few hours before her candidacy was announced has been retweeted over 400 times and favorited almost 600 times as of 2 p.m. on Monday.

Although Robredo's supporters are quick to rally behind the vice president hopeful, other netizens seem to be unimpressed. One even said she is a "lackluster" VP choice for LP standard bearer Mar Roxas.
