FLAG AT HALF-MAST BUT...

Kin wants no necrological service for Joker Arroyo —Drilon

The family of the late Senator Joker Arroyo has requested the Senate to no longer hold necrological services for him, Senate President Franklin Drilon said Thursday.

“The word that reached me is that ayaw ng pamilya any necrological services in the Senate. That’s the message sent to me,” Drilon told reporters.

He said he had yet to receive any formal notification from the family of the late senator but he already ordered that the Philippine flag at the Senate be at half mast.

“Walang formal confirmation but I have directed that we fly our Philippine flag at half mast here in the Senate,” he said.

Asked if there will be a special mass in honor of Arroyo, Drilon said they can always offer one “but the request of the family is that there will be no necrological services.”

Arroyo died on October 5
following an unsuccessful heart operation in the United States, according to former Rene Saguisag Wednesday.

Despite this confirmation, no announcement has been made by the late senator’s family. —NB, GMA News
