Expired medicine at DOH-Pampanga not sure if for Yolanda victims —Palace
Malacañang on Saturday said that boxes of undelivered and expired medicine discovered at the Department of Health's office in San Fernando, Pampanga may not be intended for the victims of Super Typhoon Yolanda.
"Hindi pa malinaw kung ano ‘yung mga gamot na ‘yon, kung para daw ba talaga sa ‘Yolanda’ victims, but rest assured that the DOH is conducting an investigation on this," Deputy Presidential Spokesperson Abigail Valte told state-run radio dzRB.
She added: "Wala pong kasiguruhan kung para saan po ba ‘yon. Kasi nasa Pampanga ho ito e, hindi naman po Region III ang Tacloban."
Valte added that the DOH was still not sure what kind of medicine were discovered in its Pampanga office.
"Kailangan ho may magbigay ng maganda at resonableng eksplanasyon kung sakaling ganoon. Ngunit, hintayin po muna natin, ayaw po naming maghusga muna at this point," Valte said.
DOH Pampanga supervising admin officer Grace Samia said in a report on GMA News TV's "State of the Nation with Jessica Soho" on Friday that problems with shipping delayed the delivery of the medicine to Yolanda victims.
