Anti-graft court resets arraignment of ex-CJ Corona 


(Updated 5:53 p.m.) The arraignment of former Chief Justice Renato Corona at the Sandiganbayan for perjury charges was canceled Thursday due to their pending motion before the anti-graft court.  

Corona is facing charges for perjury and violation of Section 8 in relation to Sec. 11e of Republic Act 6713 or the Code of Conduct and Ethical Standards for Public Officials and Employees. 

He was accompanied by his wife, Cristina, at the Sandiganbayan.
 
The prosecution has already filed its comment while the defense has alfeady filed its reply to the opposition.
 
The arraignment was reset to Jan. 26 next year , 2016 at 1:30 p.m.

"Our MR to the denial of our Motion for Judicial Determination of Probable Cause was filed on 1 Sept 2015. [The] prosecution filed their opposition on Sept 23 while we filed our reply on Sept. 28. Due to [the] pendency of our MR, the court deferred [the] arraignment," said lawyer Rean Balisi, defense counsel for the Coronas.
 
Corona is perjury charges for their alleged underdeclaration of assets between 2003 to 2010 including dollar and peso accounts and several properties in La Vista in Quezon City, Belagio condominium in Taguig, Spanish Bay condonimium in Manila and condominium at Columns in Makati. — Bernadette Reyes/RSJ, GMA News
