Mar Roxas says he won’t be a mere copy of PNoy
Presidential candidate Mar Roxas said he would not be a mere copy of President Benigno Aquino III, who chose him to continue the Daang Matuwid or the good governance platform of the present administration.
In a radio interview on Wednesday, a Facebook user asked Roxas if his administration would just be an imitation of what had already been set up.
"Hindi," Roxas said.
Earlier in the interview, Roxas indicated the Daang Matuwid was far from perfect and could use some improvements.
"So ang point ko lang is that merong mga tulong tulad nito. Hindi ko sinasabi na perfect ah. Hindi ko sinasabi na sapat na ito. Hindi ko sinasabi na ubod ng kaginhawaan na pero tingnan din naman natin na nagsimula na ito," Roxas said.
"Lalo pa nating papalakasin. Lalo pa nating papaigtingin 'yung direct access ng mga programa ng ating mga kababayan para masiguro natin itong inclusive growth na ito," he added.
One of the criticisms of the Aquino administration is based on its supposed failure to make the country's economic gains felt by most Filipinos.
Roxas also said that accepting Aquino's endorsement had been a big challenge.
"Mahalaga para sa akin 'yung Daang Matuwid eh, paglalaban ko ito at para sa akin to the bones kailangan naniniwala dito," Roxas said.
Mamasapano, DAP
When asked what we would do if cases were filed against Aquino after his term in connection with such controversies as the Mamasapano incident and the questioned Disbursement Acceleration Program, Roxas stood by Aquino's previous statements.
"Si PNoy mismo magsasabi na 'wag n'yong pakialaman 'yan dahil malinis ang kanyang konsensya at madedepensahan niya lahat," Roxas said.
Will he allow Aquino to be imprisoned in connection with these controversies?
"Mangingibabaw parati ang rule of law," Roxas said. —NB, GMA News
