VP Binay gets support from CamSur political families
By TRICIA ZAFRA, GMA News
Vice President Jejomar Binay on Thursday got support from political families in Camarines Sur, a province where he lost to administration standard bearer Mar Roxas during the 2010 vice presidential race by over 40,000 votes.
Former House Speaker Arnulfo Fuentebella endorsed the candidacy of Binay, who came along with five senatorial candidates of the United Nationalist Alliance.
"If you notice, our presence here with Congressman Lui (Luis Villafuerte), myself, and other known politicians in Camarines Sur especially, you will immediately conclude that a Binay presidency will be very strong come [the] 2016 elections," Fuentebella said, adding that Binay won in his district in 2010 by more than 25,000 votes.
For his part, Villafuerte, a former governor, said: "For the first time in the province of Camarines Sur, the Fuentebellas, the Villafuertes, the Alferors and the Rocos—we were never together before, but now we stand behind President Jojo Binay."
Binay sounded confident when asked how the support of prominent Bicolandia politicians would work for his candidacy. "Eto ung mga talagang mga institusyon na sa pulitika sa Bicol ... mas maigi na pakinggan na lang natin kung paano sila magiging game-changer for Binay as president."
In 2013, Camarines Sur had almost a million registered voters and around 80 percent actually voted.
But support from the Villafuertes is not that solid. The current governor, Migz (Villafuerte's grandson), and his father, L-Ray, have earlier expressed support for Sen. Grace Poe's presidential bid.
Fuentebella and Villafuerte are both seeking a congressional comeback in the province.

Meanwhile, Binay promised Bicolanos that should he become president, he will revive the Bicol Express Line of the Philippine National Railways.
"We plan to revive the Manila-Bicol line gradually, first starting with the Alabang-Calamba line ... the from Calamba to Matnog. The return of the Bicol Express would be good for the tourism industry," he said.
Binay also promised to expand Legazpi airport, address climate change and continue the conditional cash transfer program. —RSJ/KG, GMA News
