DOJ fields prosecutors at NAIA and Camp Crame for APEC summit
Two dozen prosecutors are on duty 24 hour a day for any inquest proceedings related to penal violations involving delegates to the Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation Summit non-participants, according to the Department of Justice.
Twelve prosecutors have been assigned at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) and another 12 at the Philippine National Police headquarters at Camp Crame in Quezon City, Prosecutor General Claro Arellano said in two separate orders.
The prosecutors went on duty shortly after midnight on Monday and would remain on duty until the APEC summit ends on Friday. Each prosecutor is on an eight-hour shift.
Assistant State Prosecutors Xerxes Garcia, Philip Dela Cruz and Gerard Gaerlan took their posts at NAIA on Tuesday, November 17. Prosecution Attorney Herbert Abugan and Assistant State Prosecutors Clarisa Kuong and Romeo Senson would start on Wednesday, November 18.
Assistant State Prosecutors Michael Vito Cruz and Hjalmar Quintana and Prosecution Attorney Ma. Richelle Oliva would start on Thursday, November 19, and Assistant State Prosecutors Alexander Suarez, Florencio Dela Cruz Jr. and Brian Jacinto Cacha on Friday, November 20.
At Camp Crame, Assistant State Prosecutors Eugene Oliver Jabson and Liezel Aquiatan and Senior Assistant State Prosecutor Edwin Dayog took their posts on Tuesday), while Assistant State Prosecutors Alejandro Daguiso, Ferdinand Fernandez and Karla Cabel would be on duty starting Wednesday, November 18.
Assistant State Prosecutor Charlie Guhit, Prosecution Attorneys Rodan Parrocha, Honey Rose Delgado would start on Thursday, November 19, also at Camp Crame, and Prosecution Attorneys Jerome Coronel and Regalado Ballares Jr., and Assistant State Prosecutor Antonio Arquiza Jr. would start on Friday, November 20.
Arellano directed the prosecutors to coordinate with officials of the Department of Transportation and Communication and Philippine National Police regarding their four-day stay at NAIA and Camp Crame. – Mark Merueñas/VS, GMA News
