Duterte repeatedly said I’m his VP bet, Alan Cayetano says

Senator Alan Cayetano on Wednesday expressed confidence that he would be Davao City Mayor Rodrigo Duterte's running mate in the 2016 elections.

Cayetano made the remark after Senator Ferdinand Marcos Jr., who's also vice presidential candidate, indicated that his camp continues to talk with that of the local chief executive for a possible team-up in next year's polls.

Cayetano said Duterte had repeatedly told him that he would be the mayor's vice presidential bet.

The senator said he believed Duterte and that the rest of the mayor's team would go with his decision on who to support for the vice presidency.

After letting the deadline for the filing of certificates of candidacy pass without filing one for a presidential run, Duterte earlier this week announced that he will seek the presidency in 2016.

Duterte is expected to file a certificate of candidacy as the PDP-Laban's substitute presidential candidate.

Interestingly, Cayetano and Marcos are party mates in the Nacionalista Party.

Another NP member seeking the vice presidency is Senator Antonio Trillanes IV. —NB, GMA News
