Pagasa: Dodong intensifies, to bring more rains

Tropical storm Dodong, located 170 kilometers northeast of Basco, Batanes, has slightly intensified as it continues to move towards Taiwan, the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said in its 11 p.m. report on Wednesday. The storm’s maximum sustained winds grew stronger at 75 kilometers per hour, while its gustiness reached 90 kph. Signal number 2 remains in effect over Batanes Group of Islands that experiences winds of 60 to 100 kph. Signal number 1 is still up over Babuyan Islands with winds of 30 to 60 kph. “Residents in coastal areas under signal number one and two are alerted against big waves generated by this tropical cyclone," Pagasa said. The weather agency said "Dodong" will continue to enhance the southwest monsoon, which will bring rains over Luzon particularly at the western section. “Those living in low lying areas and near mountain slopes are advised to take all the necessary measures against possible flashfloods and landslides," Pagasa said. - GMANews.TV
